Cable tester for data, voice and coax cables

Affordable Cable Tester for your Toolbox

The CableMaster is the all-in-one tool for localizing cable faults in data cables, telephone cables and coax cables. The large LCD shows multiple fault situations and gives a "Pass" or "Fail" indication where necessary.

CableMaster 400 is the solution for testing the complex wire environment that exists in today's information and entertainment systems. A built-in tone generator is useful for tracing faults and finding the termination ends of installed cable of all types. Using the built-in remote and wiremapper sets, one user can identify up to 19 remote and wiremapper sets.

  • Tests voice (6 wire), data (8 wire) and video (coax)
  • Tests and indicates pins with shorts, opens, reversals, miswires and split pairs
  • Displays 'Pass' icon for correctly wired 6-pin telephone plus 'Rev' for reversed-pinned
  • Easy to read, extra large 7-segments LCD screen with large icons
  • Tone generator with selectable tone cadence and selectable pins carrying tone. Traces multiple cables runs with four usable tones to quickly distinguish between respective outlets
  • RJ master remote stores in bottom of case
  • Map 19 locations at one time
  • Low power consumption for long battery life

The display stands for "Unknown" and refers to an unknown wiring error. This can happen, for example, if the affected wires are shorted with another cable.

This display means that the flashing wires are shorted.

The sound can be received with a tone probe (accessory unit). You will need our CT15 Probes (article no. 226007).

You are probably using a shielded/laminated cable. The shielding is used for electromagnetic shielding of the cable, so the signal of the sound generator is shielded. However, you can still receive the tone at the open ends or sockets/plugs on the cable with the probes.

There is no alternative language other than English for the CableMaster 400 available.

My CableMaster 400 shows "Split". What does that mean?

A "split pair" - error is a rare cabling error. It occurs when an identical mistake was made at the assembly on both sides of a cabling link. The white veins of two identical pairs are reversed at both ends, although consistent, the orientation of the wires causes very high crosstalk.. The result: A communication of active components is not possible.
